My Students
Every morning we come in and have breakfast together in the classroom like a family. My students are precious to me. My students love to read and really like to use my classroom library.
My students are typical second graders.
They like to play games together, ask challenging questions, and tell stories. They like to read chapter books because they think they look older and smarter when they do. My school is located in a high poverty area, but we are like one big family. We learn from each other and help each other in any way we can. We love on all the students in our building even if they are not in our classroom.
My Project
I want all of my students reading on grade level by the end of the year. In order to do that they need to have access to books that are on their level. The book bins and labels will be used to sort books according to level (difficulty), subject, and interests. My students are required to read books alone and complete comprehension book reports on them. They are also required to read four hours every month to meet their reading goal.
The book bins project will greatly impact my students reading.
They will be able to have access to books on their level and have more time to read instead of wasting time searching for a just right book.
