Super Scientists Working on Weather

My students need weather materials to observe the weather outdoors, books, and matching cards to learn about the various types of weather.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bonnette's classroom raised $229

This project is fully funded

My Students

Science is all around us... especially weather. The students learn about the various types of weather, the tools used, and make predictions about weather patterns. Without these materials (weather tools and books about the types of weather) we are not able to get in depth with our weather unit.

The 18 curious minds that make up my classroom love to question and explore.

They are always inquiring about science related topics and have an appetite to learn something new. We are a title 1 school in a rural area with limited funding for classroom material. DonorsChoose is a great way to have a positive impact on student learning in my classroom.

My Project

With the vast resources that would be available through each of these materials, my students would have a deeper understanding of weather changes and its impact on our environment. What better way to explore science than hands-on! The students would use the thermometers, rain gauge, wind vane, anemometer to explore and learn how to read the weather. The students would then take what they have learned about and apply it to the various activities at centers. The students would be able to complete the vocabulary match-up, read about weather both independently and in small groups, and write about weather. Even more, they would be able to complete cross-curricular activities in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Weather affects each of us and our environment each day.

With these materials, my students will be able to build a deeper understanding for weather. The students will be able to make observations, read about weather, and use weather related tools. By using the tools, the students will have a deeper understanding of how a meteorologist makes their predictions. By donating to this great class, you are not only impacting 1 class, but 3! The materials will be shared to impact 60 second graders.
