My students do not have the materials to really explore their environment. Science is an important part of their education and is often pushed aside because language arts and math are deemed more important. I want to bring the love of science back to my classroom!
My students are a wonderful group of children that are energetic and eager to participate.
They enjoy learning new information and working together. They love to engage in hands-on activities that are fun and provide them the opportunity to apply new knowledge. We are a Maryland Title I school that needs support.
My Project
The best way to learn is by doing and this is definitely true for my kindergartners. When they actively engage in an activity they are excited about learning and are more likely to retain the information. The science kit would provide the necessary tools for the students to explore their environment with a specific objective in mind. For example, the magnets would allow the children to discover what items around the room are magnetic.
My children have limited experiences due to their limited environment at home and in school.
I would like to provide them with as many learning experiences as I can with the short time I have them. Having these materials available in the classroom would allow me to broaden their experiences in school and expand their knowledge in science.
