Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that I serve are from grades 3 to 5 and are struggling with reading, comprehension, fluency and writing. I meet with the students daily for 45 to 50 minutes to help improve their reading and writing skills. Most of my students are second language learners and have been struggling with their reading skills since kindergarten or first grade.
The students come into my room every day excited to be here working in a small group.
They are willing to take risks with their reading since they are in a group at their reading level. It is wonderful to see the excitement in their eyes when they move to the next level.
My Project
These leveled books will greatly help the students that attend my reading intervention program. The students who come to my room are struggling readers. The magnet letters will help them practice making words and seeing patterns in words.
I know they would love to read a book that they have chosen and is something they want to read!
I want them to be able to pick books that they are interested in reading but that are at their reading level. I want them to practice their reading every night. With these extra books in my room I know they will want to practice and with all of that practice they will become stronger readers.
