This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love fostering the curiosity within my classroom environment. Entering my second year, this is the solely what I want to focus on with the parents and students. I've understood where my parent commitment levels are and not to focus on their support for materials. I am looking forward to having all the supplies I wish I had, like a classroom-set of rulers, to have an even more interactive classroom. I also ran into many instances when my school’s printer was down and had to print using my own printer, running through many ink cartridges. Towards the end of the school year, I even had to sacrifice the more interactive activities from the lesson plan because I had nowhere to print the worksheets. At the same time, I'm looking forward to restocking in materials that served me well, like laminating sheets, fun pens, dry erase markers, pencils and erasers. I'm looking forward to using premade incentive charts so I can focus my materials on activities.
I plan on using more kid-focused techniques to teach topics like coordinates through outdoor grid scavenger hunts using chalk.
And I am looking forward to using my classroom in a way to foster this amazing environment, with masking tape and the chalk markers which I didn't use to their full capacity last year. Encouraging creativity in the math environment to show that it is fun even if you are struggling. I also realized that my classroom isn't just to expose them to math skills but fostering their curiosity in other subjects which promotes an overall educational environment (hence the world map which we use in math, science and reading). I appreciate any contribution made to this project to create an environment putting kids over everything.
