Super Heroes Fight the Flu!

My students need hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and soap for healthy environment that is free from germs that harbor flu viruses. they also need copy paper and dry erase markers.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Patten's classroom raised $554

This project is fully funded

My Students

My students are a dynamic and energetic group of students who are eager to learn. They are comprised of different ethic and racial subsets. Most of my students live in poverty. Parents struggle to provide the necessary supplies for their children. All of my students qualify for federal free breakfast and lunch. Our school is located in the oldest city on the Mississippi River. It is located in a neighborhood where several of my students walk to school from a housing project. Furthermore, students have to go in and out the cold to go to the cafeteria and other special subjects.

My Project

Students learn best when they feel their best. Making sure that my students are practicing good hygiene through the use of soap and water and hand sanitizer would lessen the chances of spreading germs and illnesses.

The hand sanitizer, soap, and safe hygiene habits will keep students healthy!

Students will wash their hands after each classroom activity that requires them to interact with manipulatives. They will also wash after they have come in from recess, the bathroom, and Special Subject classes. In the event that we are not near our sink, they will use sanitizer. They will also use it to sanitize their hands when they sneeze, cough, or clean their noses.

The sanitizing wipes will be used to clean the desks, light switches, the mouse at the computer, and other things that students may come in contact with.

Recently, a seven year old in our community died from the flu. It is my desire to keep my students safe from any flu viruses that may be circulating. The supplies will be used daily to fight germs in our classroom. Students will not only use the supplies, but they will learn healthy hygiene habits that will help keep them safe.

The dry erase markers will be distributed to each student so that they will not have to share markers. The copy paper will be used for to print TOPS Reports from the Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math Programs. Each time students complete and assignment, a TOPS Report is printed to provide data of their progress. I will use the data to drive instruction.
