My Students

Who better to inspire a love of reading than Henry and Mudge? We need multiple copies of these great books for book clubs.

My students live in a high poverty area of Washington State.

Our school is wonderfully diverse. My students love reading, but they need more books at their independent reading level that are interesting and fun. Our students are all working towards becoming better readers. This starts with great books!

My Project

Henry and Mudge books are among my favorites. Kids love these books because they can relate well with the main character, Henry, and his big dog Mudge. Henry and Mudge have all sorts of adventures, all the while inspiring readers to continue reading. Kids can really connect with the stories. I have also requested a super book by Melanie Watt titled Scaredy Squirrel. Scaredy is afraid of everything, including germs! Scaredy learns how to make a plan of action. This is a really fun book to read with kids!

My students really need books at their level that are interesting and fun.

Multiple copies would enable us to have book clubs! Having the whole series will help students who are inspired by the characters read through a series. I love these great early chapter books and I know kids will love them too.
