Sunshine State Readers for Our Young Leaders!

My Students

I am so honored to be teaching a group of Fourth Graders who are excited to be back in the classroom and are ready to read through the year.

I am a firm believer that if you can encourage students to love reading at a young age, they will be lifetime learners.

From the first day of school, students are encouraged to choose good fit books, and to read their hearts content! I have kiddos of all abilities in my classroom, and it is my hope that by the end of the year, they will be as in love with reading as their teacher, and that they continue to read throughout their life!

My Project

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program is a statewide reading motivational program for Florida students in grades 3 through 8. Students are encouraged to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on all reading levels in order to improve their reading fluency.

This project is to fund all of the SSYRA and SSYRA Jr books for my classroom.

Sunshine State books are selected by Florida School Librarians for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation. Then students can vote on their favorite books!
