it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Social Worker at a South Bronx middle school seeking funding for art supplies for one of my very talented student artists.
I have a very talented 6th grader who can't afford to purchase the professional art materials to create her master pieces.Summer break is when students have plenty of free time to pursue hobbies that they are passionate about.
This student has been sketching in pencil and all of her work is void of color. When I asked her why she doesn't use color in her art work, she replied that she only has a pencil to work with. I then began to discuss some of her pieces with her and what colors she would add if she had the materials. Her face lit up and she described all of the vibrant colors she would use to complete her drawings. This broke my heart knowing that her amazing art work doesn't reflect the vision in her mind simply due to her economic situation.
Her work completed work could even be used to apply to an art high school!
