Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love how curious, creative, and resilient my students are. They come to school each day full of energy, questions, and the desire to be seen, heard, and challenged. They’re growing into thoughtful, passionate readers—and I want to give them every opportunity to thrive.

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) books are more than just great stories.

Each book opens a window into new worlds, teaches empathy, builds vocabulary, and deepens comprehension.

These books will:

1. Help students develop a love for reading by offering engaging, age-appropriate stories

2. Encourage critical thinking and discussion as they analyze characters, themes, and plots

3. Support participation in district-wide reading competitions, giving them confidence and purpose

4. Create a shared reading experience that builds community and connection among peers

5. Give every student, regardless of background, access to high-quality literature

My students are capable of amazing things—and with the right books in their hands, there’s no limit to where their imaginations can take them. Thank you for supporting their journey.
