Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager pre-kindergartners, and this classroom is their first school experience. They are part of a Title I school with the majority qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Most are English language learners with Spanish being their home language.
Children today learn in many different ways, and teachers must discover these ways.
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn." The best way to do this is with hands-on activities.
My budget has been cut by over half, and I want to be able to provide the same experiences that most little ones get to experience in preschool. Due to a lack of funding, it is very hard to be able to provide my students with these materials.
With early intervention and more opportunities, these children students will become better students who develop a love for learning earlier.
My Project
When you use hands-on activities, students are engaged in meaningful experiences. This book project with use different Sunflower books to introduce the stages of the flower to the students. Once the students have learned about the different stages, they will use the oil pastels and clay to make a sunflower using different art materials. They will also be able to plant sunflower seeds using the gloves to observe and learn about the different stages and parts of the flower.
This project is a fun engaging science unit using books to help students learn about Sunflowers.
The students will be able to learn and identify the different stages and learn what they need to survive.
