Summer Storage for Cooking Club

My Students

As the music teacher of the only non-audition based music school in New York City, I strive to give my students every opportunity. Our school was opened less than 12 years ago with the mission to give all students, regardless of their prior knowledge, an opportunity to learn and grow in the arts.

95% of the students are of black or Hispanic heritage, and over 80% qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch.

Although many of our students' math and reading skills fall below grade level, they are intelligent, passionate, and all performers at heart.

My Project

This year has been filled with wonderful firsts for my students, including the first culinary program run completely in house, by our own staff! It took a lot of start up to get us going, and as summer approaches, we need a way to safely store our materials so they are clean, safe, and ready to go next fall.

These items will not only create a way to safely and effectively store our materials over the summer, but will keep them organized in an easily accessible way once the program starts again in September!

Your donation will ensure that the materials we have are not wasted, and will help us to use next years funds to grow our program, without needing to replace any of the materials we have already obtained. The flatware tupperware will not only safely store our flatware, but when the year starts it will mean that each week the cleaned flatware is still clean the next week! The cutting board rack will ensure that the cutting boards are completely dry and prevent any mold or build up, as well as provide easy access to them. The storage containers are a great way to keep our flours, sugars, and grains fresh through not only the summer, but throughout the school year as well. Thank you for your support in helping sustain our cooking program!
