Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The cross country athletes at our high school made history last year. The boys and girls teams qualified for the State Championships for the first time in 14 years. The goal for the upcoming season is to finish in the Top 10 for both teams. In order to do this, we need to motivate our athletes to run in the summer, and to keep them safe from the heat once they return to the school for training in the fall.
Your donation will fund travel bags for athletes that successfully log 100 miles of training on their own in the summer, and a shade tent for the team as we travel through southern New Mexico in the late summer and fall for competition.
These are important materials for the success of our program because our shade tents from last year are in tatters and the bags we use each season are very old. Providing new bags for those athletes who train successfully on their own will be a strong motivational force for success.
