Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a group of wonderful 3rd graders with a big, beautiful heart. This school year I noticed my students were really struggling with reading however they have always given their all when we are working on phonics lessons or engaged in reading stories such as The Wild Robot or Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. The thing I love the most about my students is how empathetic they can be with one another. They are learning that everyone reacts differently in situations and are learning to use their words to resolve conflicts. I read the Jory Johns food group series to my class, and we had discussions about each book. My students enjoy the comedies and morals of each book. The books will help them remember all the discussions we had in our 3rd grade class about being a good friend , being empathetic, and celebrating each other’s differences. My goal for gifting them this book is so they feel comforted during the summer with memories of their classmates and all the teachers that supported them this school year. I hope that this book is one they treasure until they are older and will be able to feel validated and loved when adulthood becomes hard.
