This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students this school year started very far behind for first grade. Unfortunately each year the number of students we are allowed to leave back to repeat a grade if they are not ready for the next grade grows smaller. I know that with the current environment we are in my students will be pushed along to second grade ready or not.
I want to give my students a fighting chance in the next grade with workbooks for the summer.
I want to create summer readiness packages for my students to have tools they can use to continue to practice during the summer months. During the summer most students fall behind, we call this the summer slide. Since my students are already behind I do not want them to slide any further. I have incorporated different level workbooks to fulfill the needs of my different level students. Even though they will be going to second grade some of them do not know how to read. So please help me prepare my students for second grade.
