This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school each and every day excited and full of energy. They show so much enthusiasm in the classroom and love learning and exploring new topics. In my classroom my students are no longer "just kids." They become mathematicians, writers, readers, historians, and scientists.

In our school we are "Building Leaders One at a Time," and every day brings about a new adventure to tackle.

My Project

"Summer learning loss, the phenomenon where young people lose academic skills over the summer, is one of the most significant causes of the achievement gap between lower and higher income youth and one of the strongest contributors to the high school dropout rate." (National Summer Learning Association)

Through this project I hope to provide literacy and math materials for my students to use throughout the summer to prevent summer learning loss.

I want my students to keep their minds active and return to school in September with the skills they will need to succeed in fourth grade. The materials that I am requesting through this project will provide my students with opportunities to read both fiction and nonfiction texts, practice their writing skills, and keep their third grade math fresh in their minds.
