My Students
Sixth grade is such an amazing and dynamic time for students. We are at the end of the road for elementary school and looking forward to junior high. We are developing a strong love of reading for pleasure and learning! We are becoming mathematicians who will be ready for any challenge.
My students are a loving group of 6th graders attending a Title I school in the heart of Waianae on the island of Oahu.
Distance learning and the COVID-19 Pandemic has brought about many different challenges, but my kiddos are resilient students, who love to learn, and come to school every day...ready for any challenge!
My Project
My passion in the classroom has always been literacy and justice! Making the act of reading an act of love, joy and kindness is central to my practice. I need your help in attending a training that will allow me to make structured literacy accessible to all students. Orton Gillingham Academy provides training on OG strategies in teaching phonemic and phonological awareness for students with learning differences.
With your help and this training, I will be able to support all students in my inclusion classroom!
I plan on using this professional development opportunity to develop a structured literacy plan for my students to catch them up to grade level as soon as possible!
