My Students
Our elementary school is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. In our building, we only have first and second grades and as you can imagine, it is full of energy!
Being the only first and second grade elementary school in our county, we have a diverse population.
Our students come from all backgrounds and economic levels. I love how our school is a mix of our entire area because students get to interact and make friends with a wide range of kids.
My Project
We have had an awesome year of in-person learning with our students this year. They worked so hard and have made gains despite missing 3 months of the previous school year.
Do you remember your last day of school and how sad you were to leave your teachers and classmates?
You would not have been sad if your teacher gave you a backpack filled with summer fun! That's what I want to provide my students! Each one will receive a backpack with fun items to get their summer started. They will get an invisible ink pen, paddle board, slime, airplane kit, and sunglasses. I will create an activity sheet to give the students ideas of what they can do with the items. For instance, does the airplane fly farther outside or inside? Does it fly farther into the wind or with the wind? I know my kids will have a great start to the summer with their summer fun backpacks!
