Summer Carnival Fun: Adaptive Sports for All Abilities!

Help me give my students the joy of a carnival-themed summer school session to life with inclusive, engaging sports equipment designed for students with disabilities!

My Project

I teach a 12:1+1 classroom of amazing students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and autism. My students thrive with engaging, hands-on activities that support their sensory needs, build motor skills, and encourage social interaction and cooperation. They benefit from structure, repetition, and most of all—fun, inclusive opportunities where everyone can participate.

This summer, our school is turning into a carnival-themed adventure, and I want to make sure my students are right in the middle of the excitement—laughing, playing, and making meaningful, unforgettable memories!

To support this theme, we’re requesting adaptive and inclusive sports equipment, including:

Smart Toss Game – Reinforces colors, shapes, and numbers through active play Badminton Set – Lightweight and accessible for motor skill fun

12-Foot Parachute – Perfect for teamwork and sensory joy

Horseshoe Set – Safe, adaptive play to work on aim and turn-taking

Bean Ball Toss – Great for carnival-style coordination games

Pickleball Paddle Set – Durable and inclusive for group play

CatchSoft Pads & Balls – Soft, lightweight and designed for easy catching success

Sequencing Bean Bags – Support language and pattern skills

Speed Stacking Cups – Builds focus and fine motor speed

Foam Exercise Dice – Turns movement into a game, perfect for group activities indoors or outdoors

These tools will help us create games that encourage physical activity, cooperation, and confidence. Every item was chosen with our students’ unique sensory and developmental needs in mind.

Physical activity is essential for all kids, especially those with disabilities, who struggle with coordination, communication, or sensory regulation. With your help, we’ll turn summer school into a place full of motion, laughter, and growth.
