Summer Camp in the Hospital…A New Take on Summer School

Help me give my students positive social interactions, creativity, and problem-solving year-round. Hospital school teachers run four week-long summer camps, bringing fun, improving social-emotional health, and giving pediatric patients the chance to experience camp together!

My Project

During the summer, myself and a team of other hospital school teachers, run four week-long “summer camp” sessions for children who are in-patient at the hospital. Children need positive social interactions, opportunities to problem-solve, and chances to create year-round, not just during the school year. Kids are kids, they need fun, meaningful experiences that support their social-emotional health and give them something many children outside the hospital enjoy each summer: the chance to go to camp.

The art materials in this project will support a wide range of engaging summer camp activities designed specifically for hospitalized children.
