This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is the heart of the neighborhood and our library is the heart of the school. Students spend a lot of time in the library and often arrive before school starts and leave long after the school bell rings. Our summer programming will give students an opportunity to access the library over summer and to explore their own creativity and strengths.
Art and creativity feed the soul and improve thinking.
Research also shows that being in a literacy rich environment improves literacy and literacy improves lives. We want our students in a positive and safe environment for the summer. What better place to be than the library, where they can pick up a book between projects.
For each of the four weeks of the program, there will be a focus: week one drawing, week two lettering, week three watercolor, and week four origami.
