This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My young students are kindergarten age. They are fun, energetic, and curious 5 to 6 year-olds. My students are ready to learn about math, reading, and writing. My students are eager to learn math facts, and how to be a good reader and writer.

We like to draw and write in our writing journals, and our teachers help us to write complete sentences.

It is exciting to be an author and an illustrator. We are also learning how to add and subtract, use a ten-frame, and count on a number-line. The supplies we need will help to stock up our reading, writing, and math centers. Who knows? Maybe we might have a famous author, illustrator, or the next math genesis in our class!

My Project

My young student need to be confident in learning math concepts. Many students as young as Kindergarten, are required to learn how to add, subtract, understands number value, number order, missing numbers and place value.

Providing a time where students can learn and understand math concepts in small groups.

For many children not expose to number concepts at an early age this can create math anxiety as they start school. Providing my Kindergarten students with hands on math materials during center time will help ease their math anxiety and build confidence.

It is very important to help young students develop mathematical skills. The better a child can develop these skills; the likelier he or she will succeed in later academic pursuits. Giving my students the opportunity to get a head-start on math is one of the best things I can do for their future success.
