My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners who come from all over the city to attend our public Montessori school, which is one of four in the city. They range in age from 3-6 years old. They come to school with varied interests and are excited to learn more in the classroom, garden and computer lab!

These learners are always looking to move and explore.

This is my second year with this group of students, and I am so excited to continue the great journey!

My Project

We love preparing snack in our classrooms however, we've noticed that we often produce so much waste! We'd love to recycle our paper cups, scraps and bottles. We'd also like to compost our extra snacks and pieces left over from food preparation. Recycling and composting works add an extra step to the Montessori work cycle. These extra steps add to the authenticity of our classrooms and connect us to our peace garden. Our scraps will help us to grow spring flowers and fall pumpkins. Children will learn to sort which items they can recycle and compost. "Recyclers" and "composters" will become classroom jobs!
