Help me give my students the hand2mind Elkonin boxes dry erase boards to apply the science of reading strategies in our small reading groups as we become independent readers.
Our class is a motivated and enthusiastic self-contained classroom of kindergarten and first grade learners who are excited to learn to read. Students in our class enjoy visual and hands on learning experiences where they can apply their reading skills. Our class practices the science of reading to learn phonics, phonemic awareness and vocabulary as they develop reading skills.
Differentiated, engaging, hands on literacy activities motivates my learners to remain engaged and apply phonic and phonemic awareness skills as they learn to read.
This project will encourage differentiated tactual centers for all learners. The Alphabet Pop It Fidget Toy will engage students who are ready to read and build CVC words. Lakeshore Alphabet Building Center and Wikki Stix Alphabet Center will support students who are learning letter recognition. Incorporating the hand2mind Elkonin Boxes Whiteboard during small group instruction will ensure engagement during phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. All these activities are designed to support independent readers who enjoy reading.
