This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As I’m sure you know this school year is going to be a different experience for all students. However, my energetic kindergartners are excited to begin their academic journey, regardless of what’s going on around them. In order to set them up for success they will need a robust learning tool kit that they can use at home.

I currently teach at an urban public school that is composed of 856 students in grades Pre-K to 8th, in which 70% are low income and 35% are English language learners.

My classroom consists of 28 students that come from various backgrounds.

Since our school is predominately low-income, we depend on the generous support of donors, in addition to community grants, to receive the supplies we need.

My Project

This year has been quite a challenge. However, one thing is certain, my kindergartners are excited to begin their academic journey. While lessons will be delivered remotely. Students will be required to complete interactive assignments at home.

In order to provide students a successful and supportive start to their kindergarten school year, students will receive a learning tool kit for multiple subjects.

Students will need the materials in this tool kit to complete daily assignments, remotely. Therefore, this tool kit is vital in supporting student learning, while creating a school-home connection.
