We typically share everything in kindergarten. Kindergarten is all about learning to share and working with others. However, with COVID-19, I need to rethink how materials and supplies are used by students.
I feel honored that I get to be my students first experience with school and it is my goal to create a classroom that fosters a love of learning.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of my students are English Language Learners; others are from military families. I have students in foster care and others that come from single-parent homes. I work hard to build a positive classroom environment which fosters a love of learning, no matter what background the child is coming from. This project will support that learning environment.
My Project
Our school year will begin with distance learning. I am in need of items to send home with students to keep them organized during their at home learning time.
I am requesting math manipulatives so that students can continue learning new concepts at home.
This project will provide pencil pouches to help keep all supplies organized and in one location. It will also provide foam counters, which will be used to teach number concepts (like addition, subtraction and counting). This project will also provide me with additional unifex cubes and counting bears so I have enough for each student to have their own set to take home. Play-doh is also being requested so that students can help strengthen hand muscles while practicing math concepts.
