Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first grade students come to school eager to learn every day! 100% of the students at my school receive a free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of them receive food backpacks on Fridays to provide snacks during the weekend. The majority of my kids speak English as their second language. Our school is considered a high poverty school due to the low income levels of families.

My students have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but they are determined to succeed!

I wouldn't trade my students or my school for anything else.

My Project

I am requesting a large variety of learning materials to help my students make the academic gains necessary to be successful in school and in life.

The reading and writing materials will be used to strengthen literacy skills as students use their journals to write about various topics.

The Word Family Sliders will help beginning readers develop word family skills to increase their fluency and accuracy.

The math activities will allow students more opportunities to deepen their math skills while practicing place value, money concepts, part-part-whole relationships with numbers and much more.

The amplifier will help students hear instruction in a loud, clear voice no matter where they are seated in the classroom.

The CD players will replace the broken sets I've used for 10 years to help students listen to stories read aloud on CDs to strengthen their listening comprehension skills.

I'm also requesting some basic art materials that students can use to creatively express their science and social studies learning.

Thank you so much for reading about ways to help my students reach their full potential.
