My students need multiple supplemental readings on the foundations of our government including 25 copies of The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence as well as AP Government study materials, and 3 iPod nanos to listen to podcasts!
You can help my students succeed on the AP Government exam with a 3 or higher!
I teach 12th grade AP Government in a public charter high school in Washington, D.C.
Every one of my students is African American, and 95% of my students live in Wards 7 and 8. Although this is a crime-ridden and poverty-stricken neighborhood of DC, my school is a beacon of hope to our students and their families.
My Project
We would love several books on the foundations of our government, 25 copies of the Constitution that students can keep to annotate, AP government study materials so they can be studying along the way to the May test, and 3 iPod nanos. The iPod nanos will allow for small group instruction, and students will be able to listen to podcasts (such as NPR's) that discuss a topic we are studying. Students will not only gain the skills and knowledge needed to be successful on the AP Government exam, but they will take ownership of their learning if they are given copies of the Constitution, can stay after school reading and studying with me, and can use technology to further their learning.
My students are learning about government in the heart of the nation's capital -- but they need resources that will provide them with extra support and will increase their engagement level for a subject that is extraordinarily relevant to our lives!
You will help them be successful on the AP Government exam!
