My classroom is made up 4th graders who absolutely love to read. I am always looking for more material to encourage their love of reading, while deepening their critical thinking skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. The school district that I teach in has a low income rate of over 70%, as well as a mobility rate of more than 30%. My students often don't have reading materials available to them at home, and I want to help provide them with every resource available.
My Project
My students need Storywords to increase their reading comprehension, which will allow them greater success on PARCC testing, district assessments, as well as the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI). Storyworks offers paired texts, a combination of fiction and nonfiction texts, on a variety of engaging topics. Storyworks offers rigorous activities, which I can differentiate to reach the learning needs of ALL of my students, which are all Common Core aligned.
Your generous donation will allow my students to experience highly engaging text, which will encourage them to read more.
Students will be able to read from home as well, as this subscription is not only for a print version, but also for access to Storyworks Online, with engaging, informational videos, audio read-alouds, and more!
