Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title I high school. My special needs students with neurological differences learn best through visual stimulation and exposure to kinesthetic opportunities. They are enrolled in resource/CTE classes. These courses focus on basic academic skills (core classes), independent living skills, organizational skills, and employability skills.

The purpose of adding a PYD Life Mini Sublimation Oven Machine and accessories (blank tumblers, and heat pads) to our classroom’s Cricut Work Station is to highlight their interest in technology and expose them to the wonderful crafts that can be done with sublimation printing.

The process of sublimation is interesting within itself but to be able to see their crafts transform right in front of their eyes would be more meaningful and impactful in the learning process.

Teaching my students employable skills is also very important to me. We plan on using the PYD Life Mini Sublimation Oven Machine and accessories (blank tumblers, and heat pads) to create projects for school activities. Depending on the items created and quantity, they may also be used for holiday fundraisers to boost moral as well as school spirit, if the opportunity arise. If crafts created are used for fundraisers, the funds will be used to purchase more blanks to continue to apply vocational skills in our classroom Cricut Station. By donating to this project, you will facilitate the implementation of employability skills as well as academic success to prepare my special need students for the workforce in the future.
