My Project
My goal for this school year is to create a fun learning environment using more positive reinforcement strategies. In my classroom, I want to be more inclusive and motivate all my students every day so they want to learn. I have tried other behavior techniques, and it's always the same students winning prizes from the prize box. Instead, this year I want to make sure I commend all students for a variety of accomplishments.
I believe incorporating behavior buddies, a stuffed animal system, will encourage students to do their best.
Students that display accomplishments like: caring about others' feelings, working well with others, remembering to write their name on their paper, knowing it's ok to make mistakes, etc., will have an opportunity to have a stuffed animal visit them at their desk for a day. With this system, all students will have an opportunity to have a visit because, unlike other reward systems, it's not just based on being good; rather, it's based on obtainable accomplishments throughout the day.
