Over summer break, Ms. Bomba loves brainstorming what each of her 550 students will do for their very first art project of the year. She must consider how the project will excite, unify, and inspire artists of all ages, while also igniting empathy, community, individuality, and creative risk-taking. This school year, Ms. Bomba plans to have students experiment with color blending to create a hue (color) that expresses their unique personality. Crazy Coral, Bashful Blue, or Speedy Silver may be some of the hues created by blending tints, tones, and shades. Next, with the help of your donation, Ms. Bomba will give each student their own wooden paintbrush to transform into a bright and colorful "personal paintbrush" with the help of their newly blended hue. Each personal paintbrush will tell us something special about the artist. At the conclusion of the unit, hundreds of unique brushes of all different colors will come together to create a collaborative art installation in the studio entitled "HUE are YOU?"
Students will use the expressive language of art to creatively articulate their individual identities, as well as their hopes and dreams for the year ahead.
Messy mats to protect our tables, Posca Pens to embellish our paintbrushes, and Velcro for installation purposes will all contribute to the culminating display which will hang all school year long! In addition, with the help of your donation, students will get to experiment with Gelli Printmaking Plates in the studio this year for the very first time! These wonderful process-heavy materials will inspire students to take risks and explore the beauty of the artistic process!
