Help me give my students a portable soundproof recording studio for my classroom in order to allow students the opportunity to record high quality vocals for a variety of projects in my classroom.

My Project

I have been utilizing various spaces around my school building as “recording studios” for the past 10 years in order for students to record audio narration for films, podcasts, and music inspired projects. Previously I have been fortunate enough to have my room located near storage closets that could be converted for individual and small group use for recording. This is no longer possible.

I am asking for a portable soundproof recording studio that will fit in a corner of my classroom in order to continue to allow students the opportunity to record high quality vocals for a variety of projects in my classroom.

I am a 100% project based class, there are no multiple choice tests of any kind in my room. I also believe in sharing our learning with the community. Last year my class researched a locally enslaved couple and made films that were shown a local theatre. I also have students write and record rap songs about the First Amendment. This year I also plan on incorporating student podcasts which will be shared publicly. I already have access to high quality microphones and sound mixers. The only thing missing is a portable soundproof recording studio. This is necessary for all of the projects outlined above because quality narration is of the utmost importance when creating pieces of work designed to share with the public. It is impossible to get a room filled with seventeen 8th grade students to be silent enough for one person or group to record a narration. It is also equally impossible for the person recording to accomplish this task without feeling embarrassment as the entire class's eyes are on them as they narrate. The recording studio I am requesting solves both of those issues.
