Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you have the luxury of technology in your home? Most of my students do not have that luxury.
Academy students are mostly first generation high school students whose families come from all over the world and have settled in Oakland.
They are primarily African American, Latino and Southeast Asian and live in low socioeconomic neighborhoods. They have chosen to attend Academy because they are interested in a career in Health or Bioscience. Most of the students do not have access to computers or printers at home and rely heavily on school support.
My Project
Most students rely on school to do projects and assignments on computers and printers. Unfortunately, due to lack of state funding our school has not had the opportunity to get new printers in years. Not every classroom has a printer and those that do rarely work. When students are relying on school to be able to complete assignments on time, it is so critical that we are providing the resources they need to be able to do so.
Printers are so important for a school to have.
Every office has a functioning printer, every classroom should as well. With your help, we can bring a functioning printer to the classroom and give students the chance succeed.
