My students need quality non-fiction books to read. They need sets of books on similar subjects to learn how to compare texts.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Aymett's classroom raised $255

My Students
My students do not have access to quality non-fiction books due to their socioeconomic status. They need the opportunity to read and discuss books in their small groups.
My class is mostly Hispanic and all of my students are socioeconomically deprived.
Six of my students suffer from disabilities. They live in the inner city in low income housing. Their opportunities are less than the average child because of their parents lack of education or current financial situation.
My Project
These resources will give these young readers the opportunity to learn about plants and animals by exploring excellent texts. They need these book sets in order to learn about non-fiction and how much joy reading can bring a person. These books will be one piece of the puzzle to developing students that love to learn and read.
The children will begin to develop higher order thinking skills as they compare texts about similar subjects.
Their motivation to learn will increase due to the availability of resources and their easy access to learning materials.
