My students need materials that will help with their learning disabilities. The Bouncy bands and high laptop cart will give my students with hyperactivity and/other health related challenges the chance to focus on their academics.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and provides rigorous academics, amazing teachers, and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in our competing neighborhood. Our goal is to not only prepare our students to succeed in college, but to graduate from college. Our school is located in Huntington Park, where most of our student population comes from migrant families who receive free or reduced-price lunches. These students are hard working, determined, and are extremely thoughtful and caring.
My Project
Every class period, I have a group of students with special needs that need additional supports in the classroom to help them stay focused on their class work. Our school has a block schedule which means students are seated in each period for two hours. This is especially challenging for my students who cannot control their hyperactivity and/or have other health related challenges that need them to stand while reading and writing. The bouncy bands and computer stand will give these particular students the opportunity to take a break and be able to stand so they can achieve academic success. Many times, the needs of high school students are overlooked, however children of all ages should have the same opportunities as others to achieve academic success.
