This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students with disabilities are currently in need. The pandemic has affected their reading abilities due to little access to reading books, little access to sight-word exercises, and of course, limited access to science resources. I teach in a self-contained classroom in the Bronx, with students with special needs. These Engineering and Technology resources, such as the hurricane fact book will help organize their understanding and their learning space better. The materials will be used to further their reach and lower their frustrations and challenges!
The Hurricane book will be helped to conduct our current research on hurricanes!
The students will be using this book to help learn more about hurricanes and how they form!
The school supplies we need include Scotch Thermal Laminating Pouches that will be used to laminate all of my students' STEM research "How do hurricanes form!". We are conducting a hurricane lesson, as well as research on leaves. My students will be able to laminate all of their findings so that it will not be destroyed.
The triangle math style will be used as a different way of learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. That being said, it is an effective and good approach. It is a good tool to help kids develop their basic mathematical skills. The triangle cards are effective but do take some explaining to get used to.
Lastly, the storage rack will be used to store their learning table, where they conduct their reachers during learning. The mini-tables need to be stored away so that there is space for experiments and fun happening!
