Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incredibly fortunate to work with a group of students who are truly unique, each with their own strengths, perspectives, and challenges. What I love most about them is their resilience and creativity. Even though they face challenges in different ways, they always find a way to express themselves and make progress, no matter how big or small. They remind me every day of the power of persistence and individuality.
This project, aimed at providing cardstock paper for art projects, will give my special needs students a tangible outlet to express their creativity while reinforcing important academic and motor skills.
Cardstock is the perfect material for a variety of projects, from creating visual aids to making collages, drawings, and sensory-based art. The sturdiness of the cardstock allows students to experiment with different mediums like markers, glue, or even fabric, while also supporting the development of fine motor skills as they cut, glue, and design their work.
The resources I’m requesting will make a huge difference in their learning by providing hands-on opportunities to connect their academic lessons with creative expression. For example, students can create their own flashcards with vinyl to help reinforce language and math concepts or work on building sensory projects that integrate the concepts they’re learning in class. These projects will not only help reinforce their academic growth but will also give them a safe and engaging way to develop their social and emotional skills.
