This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed or stressed out? take a deep breathe, remove yourself from the environment, take a break? Some children do not know how to do this.
My students are still in the process of learning how to cope in stressful situations.
They all fall under the autism umbrella. They are very sweet and loving boys. They range from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Being that they are so young, they do not understand how to ask for a break or understand how to decompress their emotions when feeling overwhelmed and/or overstimulated.
My Project
This is where I am asking for help. Children with autism need their sensory outlets. Fidgets help these children calm down and refocus their brains in order for them to concentrate and grasp the concepts that are being taught to them. Can you please help me?
This project is extremely important to me.
As a teacher of children with Autism I believe in Sensory Integration and have seen positive outcomes with past students. I have chosen a variety of fidgets because every child is different and what works now, might not work tomorrow. I am constantly trying new fidgets until one works.
