My Students
My third grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.
School is a safe place and I do my best to make my classroom fun and exciting.
Most of my students live in public housing. Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.
My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.
My Project
My students need books that will help them learn how to understand their emotions and books that teach them to believe in themselves. A lot of my students have experienced a lot of trauma and have grown up in poverty. School provided a safe environment. This year we will be learning virtually and I want to create an online safe environment for them to thrive.
I plan on using social/ emotional books that focus on the growth mindset and how to handle their emotions as our morning read aloud.
