My Students
My students attend a Title I School in Oklahoma. We have a student population of 700+ with a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. They come from large, single-parent families. This is the first time, for most of them, to be in school. They love school and the stability it provides. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn. They are ready to keep up with their peers and excel in their learning. My students will overcome any obstacle put in their paths!
My Project
I have several very active students. These seat cushions would help them to stay on task while working with the group. The portable lap desks will give them a separate workspace when they want to work away from the group.
Students want to be in charge of their learning.
These items will give students choices in their work environment. This will help to avoid the power struggles we often face in the classroom, allowing me to focus on the teaching of subject matter rather than the behavior. All students will have access to these materials at different points during the school day.
