Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a busy place with no time to waste! Each day is packed with activities that help students explore concepts and ideas, think deeply and independently, express themselves, practice new and already-learned skills, collaborate with peers, and set and achieve goals.

My students are enthusiastic third graders who love learning; work hard; enjoy participating in a variety of classroom activities; persevere when faced with a challenge; collaborate with and support each other; and take pride in their work, classroom, and school.

Our school is a welcoming, positive learning community in which teachers, administrators, staff, parents, and students work together to provide students with a strong education, social and emotional support, and after-school programs and activities.

My Project

My students will use these materials during Daily 5 (literacy workshop), during which students meet in reading groups/book clubs; read; and practice spelling, vocabulary, and writing skills. Using these materials independently and in small groups, students can practice using skills that I teach during daily reading, writing, and language arts instruction. The Write & Wipe boards will provide my students with opportunities to practice spelling, writing, and handwriting skills. Both the Fiction & Nonfiction Paired Passages and the What's the Point? Comparing Text Center will help students closely read, analyze, and compare different texts. The Crack the Case! Inferencing Center will provide opportunities for students to practice using text support to make inferences and draw conclusions about a text. The Writing Activity Pockets will give my students new and interesting writing ideas, and the Bananagrams game will provide a fun way for students to use their phonics skills to build words.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom by providing my students with new and fun materials for learning centers designed to help students read a variety of text genres, deepen their thinking skills, enhance their spelling and writing skills, and increase independent and collaborative work skills.
