My Students
My third grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.
Our school is a Title I school and most of my students live in public housing which is why I need your help to help them thrive over this virtual time.
Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.
My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.
My Project
I am currently in the process of building a culturally responsive library for my students. My students deserve books that will represent them and also expose them to all the various cultures. I am currently getting my masters as a reading specialist and this semester our class is learning all about children's literature.
These books touch focus on diversity, overcoming challenges, and the importance of recognizing your emotions.
My kids deserve and need all these books to grow into the amazing adults they will become.
Kids need to see other cultures and see themselves in books. With your help we can do this. It takes a community to help these students. I can't do it alone. Every donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
