My Students

My third-grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.

School is a safe place and I do my best to make my classroom fun and exciting.

Most of my students live in public housing. Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.

My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.

My Project

School should be an amazing exciting place, where students thrive as learners every day. A video camera would give my students the opportunity to be assessed on the curriculum in a fun 21st century way. My students need to be able to express themselves through the arts. They also need to be able to learn to work together to complete projects that would combine technology and curriculum.

Students thrive when given the opportunity to be creative, imagine instead of a worksheets students will collaborate and create a video explaining to other students how to solve math problems.

This would not only prove they have mastered the material but students gain a deeper understanding of the math concept when they have to explain it to someone else plus another student who might have been struggling might understand the concept better when they hear it from a peer's perspecitive.

In science, they will film themselves investigating and performing science experiments. In History, they will need to create scripts and act out Ancient Egypt or China. In Reading, they will perform raps on antonyms or work together to create a play.

Combining the arts with education is very effective for students who have gone through a lot of trauma. I want them to have the tools to tell their own stories by writing, editing, filming these videos. This 4K video camera would help my students so much. My students are an amazing bunch and we are so grateful for Donor's choose please help us with this latest project.
