My Students
My students are part of a greater universe, and they need to understand that. To help them comprehend this, I am part of the Skype in the classroom program. Skype allows my students to collaborate with other students in other states and countries, and embrace their similarities and differences
We are a small elementary school in Delaware.
We have a diverse group of students, of varying levels, who are eager to learn in all the ways I have to offer. They are a tech savvy class, and they soak up anything I throw at them. They are open-minded, and are already pen pals with a school in New Jersey, and one in California. We collaborate with both these schools regularly, and they love it!
My Project
My students need technology tools that will, not only connect them with students around the country and around the world, but also with experts, authors,etc... We need three web cameras and three headsets to make this happen. Imagine sitting in your classroom talking to your pen pal about a project your classes collaborated on. How about sharing ideas on how to solve a problem? Listening to your favorite author, live? Being able to connect with different cultures and classrooms all around the world? Isn't that exciting? That's what theses resources will do. They will give my students a chance to see the world without leaving their classroom!
This project will allow my students a chance to realize that there is a whole world out there, waiting for them.
They will learn, first hand, about other cultures, from students just like themselves. They will get a chance to work with students from another state or country, and literally understand how collaboration works!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
More than half of students from low‑income households
