Help me give my students the materials they need to help deal with their social emotional learning due to having to deal in many different ways with this pandemic.
I teach amazing third graders in a Title I school in a low income neighborhood where their first language is not English. Most of the children live with their grandparents who can’t help them because they are not English speaking.
My Project
The pandemic has affected children in many different ways. Some of them will be coming back to school after seeing people in their lives sick with the virus or even die from it. Some children had parents out of work and didn’t have the money they needed for essentials, such as food.
It will be important for me to give them a safe place to express their feelings.
Some children will feel comfortable expressing those feelings out loud and some children will feel better expressing their feelings in a journal.
Therefore the materials that we will receive will help the children answer questions about their emotions either out loud or in written form in a journal that they can keep private or that they can share with me.
