Students Seek Seating and Sound Assistance

Help me give my students access to face masks, alternative seating, listening devices, and sensory aids. Almost all of my students have some form of sensory struggle, which is amplified when trying to learn during a global pandemic.

My Students

Thank you for visiting my page! My middle school math class is full of hardworking and creative students. My students have a variety of challenges ranging from autism, sensory processing disorders, ADHD, and behavioral struggles. Over 90% of them are on individualized education plans. The special needs of my students mean that I must endeavor to have creative and fluid lessons to keep them engaged.

My students love to work together to tackle challenges in the classroom.

In this supported environment, they are encouraged to communicate, problem-solve, and utilize teamwork to tackle real-world situations and problems. Because of the diverse abilities and challenges of my students I have learned to be adaptive in how I approach each student's needs in the classroom. This also means that I need to diversify and modify my lessons in order to keep them engaged.

My Project

So many of my students have a diagnosed sensory/anxiety disorder. Trying to learn during a global pandemic has amplified these struggles. Many of my students have accommodations in their IEP that require access to sensory aids and alternative seating.

These devices will enable my students to meet all of their learning needs in a very individualized way.

Each student deserves to feel comfortable and safe in their classroom environment. Having access to seating that allows them to get their wiggles out while remaining focused is wonderful. The headphones will also allow those who struggle with reading and writing to access the full curriculum.
