Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are passionate theatre artists who study Drama for 4 years. After studying social justice plays, they chose The Laramie Project as the Fall play. The play is very challenging. Students must memorize verbatim monologues and grapple with issues around homophobia and intolerance.Your gift will buy specialty props, costumes, set pieces and projectors which will help tell the story more clearly.
We want to make sure that they understand all the viewpoints presented in the play and that they are able to engage the audience in meaningful dialogue after the play so that we can shift attitudes and biases in our school community.
What makes my students special is their passion and intellect. They ask searing questions, challenge authority and advocate for themselves. I am confident that they will change the world withthei rthetare and LARAMIE is a vehicle through which they will learn.
