Students on a Quest

My Students

My students have grown up using technology in school. They are competent researchers, writers, and collaborators around a laptop. In fact, computers often open the students' minds to new ways of thinking and presenting their information and can engage even the most reluctant students.

These fourth graders are smart and serious about school.

They are at an age where they do not see limits to what they can do! We are an IB school, with an inquiry-based curriculum. What this means in practice is that students are able to develop projects and questions about our science, literacy, and math units and then students are able to research and find answers to their own questions. This kind of learning goes deep and engages students tremendously.

My Project

When we have enough ChromeBooks in our classroom, students will be able to use the technology flexibly to do research and then to produce presentations and reports for their peers. In this way, students communicate, collaborate, and explore and at the same time, they use technology to increase their content-area knowledge.

Donations to this project will change my students' lives for the better because the students will have the tools to work efficiently and flexibly.

When they are "into" a project, they bring tremendous energy to it and their work and their learning is so much better when they have the resources they need!
