This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First, if we don’t have a place for our students to sit and change into PE clothes, we are already showing students we are not prepared or ready for them. We need to give them the tools to be successful.

All of our students want to learn to play disc golf at least once in their lives.

Our classes have been limited to the different games they can play due to our budget. In class, the disc golf baskets will provide the opportunity for the kids to play in the field with classmates, many at a time. This helps them with the basic idea of disc golf and how to throw a frisbee. As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build their skills and to be able to practice socialization and teamwork while playing. We will be able to take these with us when we travel and compete against other schools in our community. The disc golf baskets will play many roles in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to play disc golf in class and even allow them to play around the community outside of school once they have the fundamentals down. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but around the school as well. Giving students the opportunity to try and play things they would never get the chance to play, helps students climb out of their shells and not be afraid to try new things and fail.
